Midsummer dreaming....

I must go and seek some dew drops here
And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear.
Fairy, Act 2 Scene 1. A midsummer nights dream

to light the path - how wonderful...lottiedavies.com

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
While these visions did appear.
Puck, Act 5 Scene 1, A Midsummer Night's Dream

 ~~~
Walking through parkland, listening to Five Variants of  Dives and Lazarus I momentarily closed my eyes and as I did the warm meadow~sweet breeze curled around my throat. Gasping, I gulped the air down, it was both thrilling and inexplicable. In that moment I felt I was inhaling all of England, my lungs were bursting with Henry V, Thomas Hardy, Ralph Vaughan-Williams, John Keats, Christina Rosetti.....the very essence of all that I hold dear. It felt as though I had disappeared and was a particle, a part of something so ravishing I couldn't begin to describe it....I tried to stay. My eyes snapped open, it was gone, that moment. Only the tears that pricked my eyes remained.
I hurried back to the car in a daze, I wanted to write it down, just as it had happened fearing, like a dream the memory of it would fade.
~~~

I love Midsummer, whatever the weather dishes up! I know the fairies are making mischief...I can still feel the sparkles catching in my throat....

  3. Hey, you! You've posted up the very same thing that my brain has been working on for a post of my own, all morning - 'over hill, over dale...' and I had images of dewdrops and everything! But, I won't say you 'beat me to it' or 'stole the idea' ;) - no, your post is absolutely perfect! =] Magic!!!

    ...and, hearing about your moment, while you were on your walk, I'm so relieved to know that this kind of thing happens to someone else! =D and, I hesitate to say it... I do *try* to hide how sentimental I really am but... I am thinking (even more seriously than before) that you just are one of those serendipitously similar souls....alright, aka 'kindred spirit'. (But, now, I have to gruffly roll my eyes and try to act cool...)

    Thanks for this post, today - it's brought a special flare to this first day of summer!

    xxo

    PS from your images, I've just discovered some wonderful sources of inspiration! I've been working so hard on the technical bits of photography, I'd almost forgotten... Thanks so much! =]

  13. Aaaah,, Sarah Jane,
    You've done it again....

    Delightful.

    I was laying here in bed with lap and cup of tea, trying to work out colours for this years collection of paper beads that I make for charity (HIV orphanage in Thailand this year).

    And I am going to use some of the colour schemes from your images. (esp. image number 3).

    cheers
