Yesterday Virginia and I went to Charleston Farmhouse, we had been threatening to visit together for months! Are you enjoying Life In Squares? It seems to have captured our imaginations, the house was fully booked thanks to the interest the BBC drama has sparked. Bloomsbury is back!
Click on the paintings to link to the brilliant BBC website "Your Paintings". Another reason, if we needed one, to continue supporting this wonderful British institution through the licence fee.
No interior photos sadly, but they are are widely available to be seen on the Charleston website and many others.Enough of my witterings, come and enjoy the garden with me...
Such an atmospheric place...felt their energy...sensed their colours...
~x~
Ooooh, I want to see the series! I wonder if we'll get it here in the US before I move back to the UK (and then I can go visit Charleston, too). It sounds like such a fascinating group of artists and time period.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the little tour, I so want to visit Charleston.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this a wonderful place and such informative guides. I went much earlier this year so didn't see the garden in its full glory, it looks wonderful, thanks for the images.
ReplyDeleteloved this place.....just got in on the last extended tour and had a wonderful guide last year.....full of atmosphere and very inspiring....life in squares good too
ReplyDeleteI was enthralled when I visited and just didn't want to leave I adored it. Catching up with Life in Squares watching the second part tonight with a glass of wine, perfect! x
ReplyDeleteI visited Charleston for the first time last summer and was completely bowled over. I just stood in each room drinking it all in.....The guides were wonderful and made you feel welcome and valued. Oh to be able to rent a property like Vanessa did and be given total freedom to decorate it how you want; I dare not even bang a nail into the wall to hang a picture where I'd like it to be for fear of contravening my contract!
ReplyDeleteoh I really want to go ( we have not seen life in squares) i am sure seeing it in the flesh is better than in books. xxx
ReplyDeleteTwo summers ago we visited Charleston Farmhouse, it was a beautiful summer's day and the garden was a riot of beautiful colour and blooms. It's absolutely stunning inside isn't it, quite unexpected to see the dark interior dining room which I just loved. It rather looked like they still lived there...and I so enjoyed the series on TV. Have you visited Monk House, the home of Virginia and Leonard Woolf? Do plan a visit in spring/summer when the garden is also at it's best. Sharon
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful looking place!
ReplyDeleteLovely post! I love the photos. The garden is stunning. Looks like a beautiful place to stay. :)
