High Days and Holidays!

Or rather "Hi" days and Holidays!
I do relish Bank Holidays don't you?
I love to devote them to spending time with family and friends, cooking special celebratory meals and spoiling the chicklets with chocolates and other pretties.
Here for your delectation and delight are some snippets from our Eastery celebrations with some of our favourite people, all gift wrapped in Eastery Flora Prints x
Magpie simply had to have a Liberty print birdy

Whilst elsewhere "Lola," (Goddess of cake) was preparing this magnificent creation with her boys who decorated it beautifully.

I am pleased to report she also likes to create Easter tableau, so good to know I am not alone!

And then just to demonstrate her true Goddess status she calmly served us cake whilst agreeing to unexpected visitors that very evening which would involve much scrabbling of provisions and extra beds to be made up.
You're my hero Lola!

Meanwhile in the world of beloved God~Daughter a splendid Birthday was had in which new outfits were purchased and teddy bears were built!

And then if that wasn't enough all this was rounded off by a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Let the feasting begin!

Thank heavens there were a few of us adults standing by to supervise the chocolate munching. What's that?
No silly! that's not chocolate above my mouth it's a beauty spot!

My lovely Ludo and the youngest of her chicklets

Back down the Lane things were taking an artistic turn.
Every now and then I am reminded how remarkable Mr.Lane is and this is one of those occasions.
Arriving home from a morning Easter Egg delivery I was presented with this egg~box

Hmm, not very remarkable at all, in fact are you expecting me to down tools and rustle you up breakfast?
Hmm, feeling less than impressed.
And then I opened the box

You see Mr.Lane is in fact an artistic genius and in all the every day comings and goings I do tend to forget this from time to time.

I am especially fond of the Easter Cat and his friend the prehistoric forerunner of the chicken.
Thank you Mr.Lane, you're the best.

At last the garden is unfurling, the helebores are still flowering and their are more flowers than ever, I love them.

And as for my earlier prediction of welly boots being the must have for this Easter, I really can't complain when the view from the front door involves this

No need to search for the "Crock of Gold" as we have it right here at home,
xXx

  10. A peep is a marshmallow candy covered in sugar of different colors and shapes. I prefer the chicks that are bright yellow although there are white, pink, and lavender. They are only in the stores at Easter time. It looks like you had a wonderful day.

  17. What a view, it is absolutely stunning. I adore those dishes (the ones with eggs, bubble and squeak). Shame it would cost an arm and a leg to have them shipped here. I think they are just fantastic. It looks like you had a great time, thanks for sharing it with us.

  18. Hello darling, has anyone tell you that you are the kindness living soul on planet earth? Well, you are and I thank you for caring so much, what have I done to deserve a friend like you? Darling, happy to report I am feeling much better, of course, the migraine is not one hundred percent gone, but what is left, I can easily live with it. And, I did take your advise and helped myself to a few (may be more than a few) pieces of delicious chocolate. I want you to know I ate them solely for their therapeutic benefits of course!!! Sounds like your Easter celebration was delightful and with Mr. Lane’s pleasant surprise and talent, and the rainbow at your door, it all ended on a happy note. Enjoy your day my luv.

  21. Dear Sarah-Jane Down the lane, I wished you lived down the lane from us here in Vermont (see, yup, you were right)! That would be awfully fun, but then, I wouldn't see all the fun and wonderful things that you share with us that only truly come from beautiful England! Oh, bother, now *I've* forgotten what I was going to say! Hmmmmm.....

    OH!

Did you know that an Easter Cat saying "MIAOU" is a valid Scrabble word? There IS an aria by Mendelssohn, or some such romantic composer, that is called "Duetti por due Chatti" (I think my Italian may have gotten terribly scrambled there!) "Duet for two Cats" - two sopranos, that is. The words ... "miaou", of course! I'll come back and correct title and composer if I have to and, yes, I have sung it!!! = ) Tee hee is RIGHT!

    Love, Katy Noelle

  22. Jeepers, I must have a scrambled Easter egg brain today! It's "Duetto Buffo di due Gatti" by ROSSINI.

  23. I think "Buffo di due Gatti" is possibly one of my favourite Italian apetisers, is it the one with Buffalo Mozzarella balls?

  26. What a happy, busy, foody, friendly, family time you had! Lovely to read about all your doings (and to meet the Easter Cat).

Thanks for your comment on my Easter post - this year we had a very British selection of chocolates thanks to my little swap with Vintage Vicki - she and her boys got all the French ones! But last year I did a post with lots of quotes from 'Chocolat', to explain our lovely Fair Trade bells.
