Cherry Blossom

Such a beautiful week here
A week full of blossom buds bursting open
sweet fragrance on the breeze
Reminding me of a favourite film........................

Were you a fan too? I devoured the book when it came out, and the film was so sumptuous.
The cherry blossom or Sakura is so significant in Japanese culture, how wonderful to have cherry blossom festivals to celebrate as they have been for centuries.
Here Down the lane I thought I would enjoy my very own cherry blossom festival, hope you can join me....

Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry
Loveliest of trees, the cherry now

Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride

Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,

And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.
And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.

Have you ever seen a cherry blossom kit kat?
How I love the Japanese! First Hello Kitty and now this

Genius!

There are some gorgeous books celebrating cherry blossom, you can find this here

When you throw in lanterns with blossom I am in a state of utter joy!
I will leave you this wonderful scene

Have a brilliant weekend and thank you so much for joining me
Love Sarah

  6. Sarah ~ Delighted to come upon something this special as I take my morning stroll down the lane! Exquisite in every way. The poem is one of my absolute favorites and I loved Memories, as well! We are not at the cherry blossom stage here in the upper Midwest, but I have seen magnolias, which are lovely after dreary March. Have a wonderful weekend! xx P&H

  7. Hi Sarah
Such a pretty pink cheerful post. I love cerry & apple blossoms. Our 2 apples trees are late blossoming this year. Still waiting for those delicate pink flowers to show themselves.

I haven't read the book but I saw the film a couple of years ago, very good.

My daughter would love cherry kit kats, will have a look on Ebay!

    Have a lovely weekend
    Warm wishes

This post is gorgeous! I especially love the closeup photos. I haven't seen that movie, yet. Somehow, we never do chick flicks anymore. Hmmmm, have to do something about that. I love Kit Kats ...

Miss Sarah-Jane, we had 9 golden retriever puppies last night. We're having a PUPPY festival here. Hooray!

  25. What a lovely frothy, girlie post you have for us here, it's much appreciated. Trust the Japanese to come up with the sakura kitkat, they are such a stylish lot. I'd love to put a pretty tree in our garden and have been thinking either cherry, lilac or quince - decisions, decisions they are all so gorgeous.

Thank you for your lovely comment and kind thoughts. Hope you are well.
