Welcome, come on in, the kettle is on.........

Seems a lifetime since we left Kent and arrived here in our new East Sussex nest.

Seems an age since I last posted, and I suppose it is!

I have been floating along since the last removal lorry shuddered out of sight Down the Lane.

I must thank you if you have been wondering where I had got to and have checked in on me only to see I was still absent. Here I am! All bright~ eyed and bushy haired ( It's rained a lot!)

I owe you a lovely long, beautifully scripted post and instead I find I am a little shy and stunted as I feel uncomfortable blabbering on about how wonderful things are ~ seems a bit self congratulatory and being British that isn't something that comes naturally!

Instead I am offering snapshots of the first things that have captured my imagination here at the New Lane, and as always probably too many.

I will say that I can feel reams of words on imaginary tape tumbling from the very top of my head, out they spill, words of wonder and joy at being here, out and out they flow ~ concentric circles that express happiness, peace and gratitude.

I still think Alexander Pope had it when he said

"Happy the man whose wish and care a few paternal acres bound, content to breathe his native air in his own ground. "

Come back soon, I have much to tell, went to Hampton Court this week and I simply must tell you about the Country Living Marquee....squeak......so good!

Have a brilliant weekend,

Sarah

  4. Welcome welcome welcome to your new nest.. What fine rural splendour you have found to put down your roots again. I can totally empathise with the awe and wonder of your new surroundings.. though we are a long way from finding our idyll.. I know it's out there and is just a matter of time. Enjoy becoming acquainted with every nook and cranny of your new abode.. It looks very fine indeed from where I am standing.
    Love to you

  10. Oh my gosh Sarah, is that your place?
    How amazing.

OH, yes, how I would be content to breathe in my own native air, and walk amongst the hedgerows and hills of Scotland, but I shall just have to be content to make my own little land here in Oz.

I am SO looking forward to your upcoming posts telling us about this place. Make them as long as you like, I dont care... :)
It takes me on a journey, and I love to share some time with kindred hearts.

    Cheers

What a beautiful spot. Is your new place anywhere near Burwash? My husband has a good friend who lives there and the countryside reminds me of the area very much. If you are anywhere near it, please go to Bateman's and take photos and post them, pretty please? Oh, and the pub in Burwash called The Bear has the best food and gorgeous views!
Your home, oh my, I love it!

  16. Yes Kay, very near! 15 minutes I'd say! Love Batemans! Consider it done, not sure when but will get on to it for you!
Do you know I met my dearest friend Ludo there at a summer concert about 14 years ago, we were both with our then boyfriends who were good mates. We are all married now and reminisce about that night often!

  18. It's amazing Sarah! I was so happy to find you had returned as I kept popping by as I sit and play the transition waiting game and still looking for a home myself which is hard for this Leo who likes her creature comforts and creating a nest for my family. I love all your photos, but my favorite places are, the meadow with the incredible view, the outbuilding, and the 2 wicker chairs under the tree. My eldest daugter likes your white cottage as it is just what she would want for us. Keep enjoying putting your new home together and enjoying the surrounding nature. Hope to see you soon!
